Analytics
Individual responses
Read submissions one at a time, or as a table.
Open Analytics → Responses to inspect one submission at a time. Select a response to see its status, timestamp, completion time when available, and answers in question order.
- Open Responses in the analytics header.
- Select the submission you want to inspect.
- Choose Retake on that response.
Investigate a submission
Check the status first. An unfinished response may contain only the answers given so far. A blank answer can also mean the question was optional or skipped by branching; it is not automatically an error.
Use the response actions when you need a retake link or need to delete a response. Those actions depend on your collaborator role. Viewers can inspect data but cannot manage it.
For a dataset you can work with elsewhere, use Export. Individual inspection and exporting are different views: exports contain completed responses. See filtering.
A practical review sequence
Identify the submission
Use the displayed response information to choose the record you intend to review. Similar-looking answers can belong to different submissions.Read status and timing
Check whether the response reached completion before interpreting absent later answers.Follow the question order
Read the answers that determine branching, then inspect the relevant follow-up questions. Compare the record with the survey's intended route.Decide what needs attention
A correct but surprising answer may need no action. A respondent correction may need a retake link; an intentionally disposable test may need deletion.Missing is different from zero or No
A blank optional answer, a skipped question, the number zero and a Yes/No answer of No have different meanings. Do not turn every blank into zero when preparing data for analysis. First check the question type, whether an answer was required, and the route that led to the next screen.
If someone used a retake link, review the current response rather than assuming a second independent submission was added. Retakes update the existing response. See retake links for how reopening and completing that response works.
