Country of residence

A searchable country picker.

The country where someone currently lives. This is a different question from nationality.

Try an answer, then check it. Turn Required off to try leaving it blank.

Interactive example. Answers stay on this page and are not submitted. Reset or changing the configuration clears answers and restores Required.

All settings

Select + in the editor, choose Country of Residence, then select the question and open Content.

All questions also have Title and Description. Replace the starter title with your question; Description is optional and starts blank. Use it for instructions that should remain visible while answering. The defaults below are for a newly added question, not necessarily the example above. The example starts with Required on so you can try validation; real new questions default to optional.

Configure the prompt, not the country list

Set a specific title for country of residence, and use Placeholder for an instruction such as “Choose a country”. The picker uses the built-in country list. This panel does not offer a custom list, a default country, multiple selections or a country allow-list.

The answer stores a country code rather than arbitrary text. Use the dedicated picker when a single country-based selection is what you need; use another question if the respondent needs to explain a more complex situation.

Test the selection

Search for a country, select it and check the answer. Reset the example and try leaving it empty with Required on and off. If your survey uses the answer in a branch or pipe, test a second country too so you know the rule refers to the intended value.

Residence and nationality describe different things. Ask both only when you need both, and label them explicitly. See the other country question.

Branching and piping

Open Advanced → Conditional Logic to route from an answer. In fields that offer { }, use piping to insert an earlier answer. Plan requirements apply to advanced logic, expressions and option attributes; these are separate from the Content settings above.
