  1. 1. Zoom out for context
The minus button zooms out. The plus button zooms in.
  2. 2. Fit the whole survey
Fit View brings the full survey flow back into view.
  3. 3. Select a question to edit
Select the card body. Its Content settings open on the right.

In graph mode your survey is drawn as nodes joined by edges. A solid line is the default path — what happens when nobody branches. A dashed line is a conditional path.

Node types

NodeShapeWhat it is
StartDiamondThe welcome screen. Cannot be deleted.
QuestionCardOne question.
ContentCardText shown without collecting an answer.
SectionContainerGroups questions. Cannot be nested.
EndDiamondThe thank-you screen. Cannot be deleted.

Each node carries a number badge matching its position — 2 for the second node, 2.1 for the first node inside the second section.

Moving around

ActionHow
PanDrag with the middle mouse button, or scroll / two-finger swipe
ZoomPinch, or use the zoom buttons
Fit everything on screenThe fit-view button
DeselectSelect empty canvas, or press Esc

Scrolling pans, it does not zoom

This is deliberate: on a large survey you scroll far more often than you zoom. Pinch, or use the zoom buttons.

Layout is automatic

You cannot drag a node to an arbitrary position. Lensym lays the graph out for you, and dragging a node reorders it in the flow rather than moving it in space.

This is why the canvas stays still while you type: layout only recalculates when the survey's structure changes, never when you edit a question's text.

Working with nodes

  • Select with a click. ⇧ click extends the selection, ⌘ click adds or removes one node.
  • Reorder by dragging the node body.
  • Branch by dragging the handle underneath a node — see adding conditional edges by dragging.
  • Right-click for copy, paste, duplicate, delete, and the move commands (to start, backward, forward, to end) — the moves are graph-only.
  • Hover a question or section to reveal its delete button.

Sections

A section in the graph has three drop zones: before it, after it, and inside it. The inner zone only accepts a drop while the section is empty — after that, drop onto the child you want to sit next to.

  1. Zoom In increases the graph scale.
  2. Zoom Out decreases the scale.
  3. Fit View brings the whole flow back onto the screen.
