Net Promoter Score
The standard 0–10 recommendation question.
A recommendation question with a fixed scale from 0 to 10.
All settings
Select + in the editor, choose Net Promoter Score, then select the question and open Content.
All questions also have Title and Description. Replace the starter title with your question; Description is optional and starts blank. Use it for instructions that should remain visible while answering. The defaults below are for a newly added question, not necessarily the example above. The example starts with Required on so you can try validation; real new questions default to optional.
| Setting | Default | Behaviour and availability |
|---|---|---|
| Min Label | Not at all likely | Explain the zero end of the fixed 0–10 scale. |
| Max Label | Extremely likely | Explain the ten end of the scale. |
| Show Numbers | On | Show numeric labels for the scores. |
| Include Follow-up | Off | Reveal a reason field after a score is selected. |
| Follow-up Question | What is the primary reason for your score? | Visible in settings only when Include Follow-up is on. |
| Follow-up Placeholder | Please explain your rating… | Visible only when the follow-up is enabled. |
| Follow-up Required | Off | Marks the reason with an asterisk, but currently does not enforce an answer. |
| Required | Off | Under Validation. Requires an answer before continuing when this question is shown. |
Configure the reason separately from the score
Enable Include Follow-up to reveal its wording, placeholder and required switch. Respondents first choose a score, then see the reason field. Try the follow-up variant in the example and change the score after typing a reason to inspect the complete experience.
The required follow-up is not currently enforced
Follow-up Required adds a required marker, but the current answer validation still accepts a score with a blank reason. If the explanation must be mandatory, use a separate required text question. Required on the NPS question itself checks that a score exists.
Keep the recommendation scale intact
NPS always uses scores 0 through 10; there are no minimum, maximum or step settings. Scores 0–6 are detractors, 7–8 passives and 9–10 promoters. NPS is the percentage of promoters minus the percentage of detractors. Use a recommendation question when interpreting results this way.
Test score 0 as well as 10: zero is a real answer. Also check a blank score, a score without a reason, and a score with one. Piping extractors let you choose the numeric score or the follow-up reason; those are different pieces of the answer.
Branching and piping
Open Advanced → Conditional Logic to route from an answer. In fields that offer { }, use
piping to insert an earlier answer. Plan requirements apply to advanced
logic, expressions and option attributes; these are separate from the Content settings above.
