All settings

Select + in the editor, choose Likert Scale, then select the question and open Content.

All questions also have Title and Description. Replace the starter title with your question; Description is optional and starts blank. Use it for instructions that should remain visible while answering. The defaults below are for a newly added question, not necessarily the example above. The example starts with Required on so you can try validation; real new questions default to optional.

Match the scale to the wording

“I understood the instructions” fits Agreement. “How satisfied were you with the instructions?” fits Satisfaction. The type and number of points determine the supplied labels; use Matrix if you need your own column wording.

Compare the agreement and satisfaction configurations in the example. Statement Numbers changes the presentation. Randomize Order changes statement order, while Scale Direction changes which end of the answer scale appears first.

Required applies to each statement

Answer only one statement and select Check answer with Required on: the remaining statements still need answers. Turn Required off to try a partial answer. This is different from Checkboxes, where one selection can satisfy Required.

For numeric piping, select the numeric answer for the intended statement. Check its value after changing scale direction; do not assume the same displayed position always has the same meaning. Preview all statements on a narrow screen and keep each statement focused on one idea.

Branching and piping

Open Advanced → Conditional Logic to route from an answer. In fields that offer { }, use piping to insert an earlier answer. Plan requirements apply to advanced logic, expressions and option attributes; these are separate from the Content settings above.
