Getting started
The editor at a glance
What every panel and button in the survey editor does.
The editor has three columns: the question library on the left, your survey in the middle, and the configuration panel on the right.
- Use the library to add questions and structural nodes.
- Select and edit questions on the canvas.
- Configure the selected question in Content.
The header
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Logo menu | Back to your dashboard |
| Survey title | Select it and type to rename; saves as you type |
| + | Opens and closes the question library |
| List / Graph | Switches editor mode |
| Avatars | Who else is in this survey right now |
| Save status | "Saving…" while in flight, "Saved" when done |
| Errors | Appears only when something blocks publishing |
| Undo / Redo | ⌘Z and ⌘⇧Z |
| Preview | Opens the survey as a respondent sees it, in a new tab |
| Share | Invite collaborators, and publish |
The question library
Select + to open it. Question types are grouped and searchable. You can either select a type to add it to the end of the survey, or drag it to drop it exactly where you want it.
The canvas
Your survey. In List mode each question renders as respondents will actually see it, so you are editing something close to the finished article. In Graph mode the same survey is drawn as a flow you can branch.
The configuration panel
Selecting a single node fills the configuration panel with that node’s settings. With no node selected, an open panel shows Select a node to configure. Use the close button to hide it.
- Content — the question text, and every setting specific to that question type.
- Advanced — conditional logic and option attributes.
Select one node at a time to configure it
The panel needs a single selection. With several nodes selected you can still move, duplicate or delete them, but there is nothing single to configure.
Saving
Everything saves automatically about a second after you stop editing. If a save fails, Lensym retries and tells you; if you try to leave with unsaved changes, it warns you first.
Mobile is not supported
The editor needs a desktop browser. Surveys themselves work fine on any device — it is only building them that requires a larger screen.
