Tables

Insert a table into a description.

A table can present a small set of instructions or reference values inside a rich-text description. It does not collect answers; use a Matrix question when respondents need to choose values in a grid.

Open a description's full editor

Use { } or ⌘E.

Insert a table

Place the cursor where the table should appear and choose Insert table in the toolbar. The initial table has three columns and three rows, with a header row.

Edit the cells

Write short headers and values. Use the table controls to adjust rows and columns rather than adding spaces to align text.

Preview on a small screen

Check that the table remains readable and that its meaning does not depend on a wide desktop layout.

Use the first row for headers. Keep the structure simple: formatting is saved as Markdown, so an elaborate spreadsheet layout is not the right fit. For long explanations, use headings and lists instead.
