Building surveys
Time
A single time or a time range.
A time of day, or a start and end time.
All settings
Select + in the editor, choose Time Picker, then select the question and open Content.
All questions also have Title and Description. Replace the starter title with your question; Description is optional and starts blank. Use it for instructions that should remain visible while answering. The defaults below are for a newly added question, not necessarily the example above. The example starts with Required on so you can try validation; real new questions default to optional.
| Setting | Default | Behaviour and availability |
|---|---|---|
| Time Range Picker | Off | Ask for start and end times instead of one time. |
| Show Current Time Button | Off | Offer a current-time shortcut; range mode has a shortcut for each end. |
| Required | Off | Under Validation. Requires an answer before continuing when this question is shown. |
Example: record a session’s start and end
Enable Time Range Picker when both times belong together. Compare the single-time and range examples, then try the current-time shortcuts. They use the respondent device's current time and do not automatically supply a calendar date or time zone.
There are no question settings for a default time, custom placeholder, time interval or a time-zone picker. The browser determines how the time input is presented. State the expected time zone in Description when respondents may be in different places.
Check partial and overnight ranges
Once someone begins a range, both ends need valid times. The inputs provide start/end bounds, but the current answer validator does not enforce chronological order. Do not treat the range as a validated duration or assume it handles an overnight session automatically.
For a session that crosses midnight, collect the dates separately and explain how to answer. Test an untouched input, one endpoint, two endpoints and a reversed pair in Preview. A single time of day cannot identify which day an event took place.
Branching and piping
Open Advanced → Conditional Logic to route from an answer. In fields that offer { }, use
piping to insert an earlier answer. Plan requirements apply to advanced
logic, expressions and option attributes; these are separate from the Content settings above.
