Collaboration
Roles and permissions
What each role can do, and the two limits that surprise people most.
Collaborators are invited per survey. There are four roles.
| Owner | Admin | Editor | Viewer | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| View the survey | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Edit and publish it | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | — |
| Delete the survey | ✓ | — | — | — |
| Invite and manage people | ✓ | ✓ | — | — |
| View responses | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Export responses | ✓ | ✓ | — | — |
| Delete a response | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | — |
| Send a retake link | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | — |
Editors can delete responses but cannot export them
Worth knowing when deciding between Editor and Admin. Editing the survey and exporting the data are separate privileges.
Viewers see a banner explaining their access is read-only, and every editing control is disabled.
Limits to plan around
Ownership cannot be transferred
The person who created a survey stays its owner. If ownership needs to move, create a new survey under the intended owner and copy the required nodes into it before collecting responses.
Collaboration is per survey, not per team
There are no teams, workspaces or organisations — you invite people to each survey individually. There are also no per-seat charges: invite as many people as you need.
Inviting someone
Open Share → Share, enter their email address and pick a role.
They need a Lensym account first
Invitations can only be sent to an email that already has an account. Ask them to sign up, then invite them. Invitations expire after 7 days.
Someone who has not accepted yet shows with a clock icon. You can change a role or remove a collaborator at any time — except the owner, who cannot be removed or demoted.
Editing at the same time
When a survey has more than one collaborator, Lensym syncs everyone's changes live. See editing together.
