Slider
A number chosen by dragging along a track.
A numeric answer chosen by moving a handle between two bounds.
All settings
Select + in the editor, choose Slider, then select the question and open Content.
All questions also have Title and Description. Replace the starter title with your question; Description is optional and starts blank. Use it for instructions that should remain visible while answering. The defaults below are for a newly added question, not necessarily the example above. The example starts with Required on so you can try validation; real new questions default to optional.
| Setting | Default | Behaviour and availability |
|---|---|---|
| Min Label / Max Label | Blank | Explain the endpoints; without labels the numeric bounds are used. |
| Minimum | 1 | The low end of the track; must be less than Maximum. |
| Maximum | 100 | The high end of the track. |
| Step | 1 | Positive interval between selectable values, no larger than the range. |
| Show Ticks | Off | Show scale markings along the track. |
| Required | Off | Under Validation. Requires an answer before continuing when this question is shown. |
Example: confidence in using a technique
Use a 0–10 range, Step 1 and labels “Not confident” and “Very confident”. If only even values make sense, use Step 2. Compare these configurations in the example; labels explain the scale while Minimum, Maximum and Step determine the numbers people can choose.
A visible handle is not necessarily an answer
The slider can display a starting handle position before the respondent has supplied a value. With Required on, test Check answer before moving it, then move the handle and check again. Do not assume the minimum has been recorded merely because the track is visible.
Use compatible endpoints and steps so people can select the values you intend. Check keyboard operation as well as dragging, and preview on a narrow screen. If a precise typed quantity is more suitable than selecting along a track, use Number.
Branching and piping
Open Advanced → Conditional Logic to route from an answer. In fields that offer { }, use
piping to insert an earlier answer. Plan requirements apply to advanced
logic, expressions and option attributes; these are separate from the Content settings above.
