URL

A web address, validated as a URL.

A website address, such as a project page or institutional profile.

Try an answer, then check it. Turn Required off to try leaving it blank.

Interactive example. Answers stay on this page and are not submitted. Reset or changing the configuration clears answers and restores Required.

All settings

Select + in the editor, choose URL Input, then select the question and open Content.

All questions also have Title and Description. Replace the starter title with your question; Description is optional and starts blank. Use it for instructions that should remain visible while answering. The defaults below are for a newly added question, not necessarily the example above. The example starts with Required on so you can try validation; real new questions default to optional.

SettingDefaultBehaviour and availability
PlaceholderEnter your answer…Shown while empty; suggests an answer but does not supply one.
RequiredOffUnder Validation. Requires an answer before continuing when this question is shown.

Set Placeholder to “https://example.com/project” and say whether you want a public project page, a profile or another kind of link. A bare domain such as “example.com” does not meet the current answer check; include http:// or https://.

What validation checks

The current check looks for one of those prefixes followed by text. It does not visit the address, verify that it is a complete working website, or restrict answers to a particular domain. There is no domain restriction or custom URL-pattern setting in this panel.

Try a complete URL, a bare domain and a blank answer. Optional allows blank; a supplied value still needs the expected prefix. If people are supposed to provide a file rather than a link, make that difference clear in the instructions—this question does not upload the linked content.

Branching and piping

Open Advanced → Conditional Logic to route from an answer. In fields that offer { }, use piping to insert an earlier answer. Plan requirements apply to advanced logic, expressions and option attributes; these are separate from the Content settings above.
